Standard B: Delivers Effective Instruction

"I saw as a teacher how, if you take that spark of learning

that those children have, and you ignite it, you can take a child

from any background to a lifetime of creativity and accomplishment."

- Paul Wellstone

In order to inspire students, it is important for me to constantly reflect on my lessons to ensure that I have taught them effectively (and will continue to teach effectively). When students understand what they are doing, they are more inclined to enjoy class and work productively, which are the goals I aim for on a daily basis.

I have learned a lot in my experience so far when it comes to delivering effective instruction, such as to always "over plan" so that chaos does not ensue. Effective instruction also occurs in a variety of ways; what is effective for one class may not be effective for another. I have loved the challenge of discovering new ways to make an impact on my students' learning so that they will not only understand, but become inspired.
