Maryland

This British colony developed into a mostly plantation driven colony. In 1700 there were about 25,000 people in Maryland and by 1750 that had grown more than 5 times to 130,000. By 1755, about 40% of Maryland's population was black.In 1753 Maryland took harsher steps to further the business of slavery by passing a law which prohibited any slave owner from voluntarily letting go of his his slaves.
