STANDARD E:

MEETS PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

As an educator, it is important to uphold the highest standards of leadership to serve as a positive role model and inspiration to others.  A teacher’s task is to guide children by coordinating educational and social activities for engagement. Through both individual and collaborative tasks such as planning sessions, designing and developing schedules, commenting on various assignments, and tutoring and mentoring students, teachers can lead individuals to a life of motivated learning.  By expressing one’s passion for and knowledge of a certain topic, teachers have the ability to motivate others towards setting and achieving goals, both listening to what the learners have to say and offering advice and assistance along the journey. Through passion, creativity, communication, and guidance, teachers incite motivation and learning, awakening the youth of today to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Teachers should constantly be challenged to refine their personal educator styles while also actively teaching and encouraging others in their leadership and learning development.  With educational methodology and instruction continually evolving, a welcoming classroom boasts an environment in which collaboration is invited, both new and established teaching techniques are implemented, and the latest methods are explored and tested.

Educators combine their range of experiences with their various abilities, knowledge of current academic developments and theory, and contructive colleague critiques to improve instruction, assessment, and overall student achievement.  As part of this incessant search for improvement, teachers are lifelong learners that constantly participate in professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest and greatest classroom strategies and educational advancements.
